MultiWii Quadcopter

Multi Wii?

Stability derived using Gyros included in Nintendo Wii video game controller, the Wii Motion plus.

Accelerometers are used for LEVEL Mode come from Nintendos controller add on, the Nunchuk.

Quadcopter?

A Multi Rotor helicopter with four propellers.

Assembled using RC airplane electronic speed controllers, motors and propellers.

Frame is made of wood by me out of vertical grain Fir.

The two Wii controllers are broken down to just the circuit boards and hand soldered to a commercially available board

that holds an Arduino MiniPro in/out board.

Also included on my board is a Barometer to assist in altitude hold.

The completed quad controller looks allot like:

Programming is available online in the RC Groups community, under Multi Rotor Helis, look for MultiWii Copters.

RC Group member Alexinparis has spent the last year developing, testing and improving our code.

My copter without batteries weighs just over 1.2kg add batteries and a GoPro camera and the all-up-weight is about 1.8kg.(4lbs.)

My copter includes a hard plastic 'sandwich' container to protect the flight controller and radio receiver.

Using the lid as the base I am able to change 'lids' as required. I have one lid with slots cut so I can attach equipment as needed.

One lid has a Tilt stabilized camera mount another has a two axis camera mount with stabilized tilt and roll.

Under development is a lid that contains Live View thru the GoPro camera, 900mhz downlink, OSD (on screen display) and GPS.

The A-V quad been HEX'ed:

After adding a Spektrum satellite receiver as my PPM only receiver I gained the open pins needed to add additional motors.

Aerial Ventures newest and now best flying platform yet is the RC Group's one-and-only Power inspired, Y-Copter with custom adjustable GoPro mount.

Don captured this image of the Y-Tri-Copter in action.

Our Y-Tri-Copter includes:

Warthox FPV board with WiiMotion+ only running Alex's MultiWii software v1.9.

Thru the GoPro FPV includes Apache OSD with GPS.

The GoPro records HD Photos or 1080p Video on its SD card plus we can record

the FPV image with all the GPS data on the ground at the same time. This is the same

image, with the same perspective, but it includes location coordinates, compass heading

and altitude information.

Wayne' personal Quadcopter. This one includes a security camera done to protect the flight

controller and hidden motor controllers and wires.
